Lerue Creative Status Update
Hey! Madie here. You may have noticed I’ve been quiet for the past few months, or maybe you haven’t, but either way I’m happy to be chatting with you again. It’s been a busy season here at Lerue Creative, which is wonderful, but it has definitely pulled this one-woman show into the depths of client work and away from social media. And knowing that I want to tip toe my way out of this cave, I’m starting simple. Here are some updates on Lerue Creative & how I’m doing over here!
Prioritizing client results over marketing
I’d say about 90% of my new business comes from referrals, it’s always been this way for me and there are a few reasons I like it. Generally, the referrals I receive are from people who understand what I do and are well suited to work with me, so the consultation calls aren’t a shot in the dark. It also means the new relationships start with trust right out of the gate. Since more referrals have been coming in, I’ve been booking further and further out and I’ve been in the zone of a lot of hands-on, head-down design work. While I’m focused on my current clients and referrals coming in, I haven’t been prioritizing marketing myself to new clients as much. I was ok with that for this season, but I also feel the importance of simple communication and updates with my community, so that you know I’m still here, still working and always happy to meet new people. So I’m here to start down that path!
Projects I’ve been working on
Through my day rate services I’ve been working on projects like;
New web page designs for a doula and an energy healer
Opt-in quiz landing pages and workbooks for an author and media personality
E-book design for a holistic nutritionist
Email templates and social media graphics for a pilates instructor
Creative direction for a luxury wedding photographer’s course launch
Online course module presentations and PDF resources for post-secondary education experts
And I’ve had the pleasure of working on full website design projects and branding for;
Content creation specialist for interior designers and photographers
AirBNB superhosts
Event strategists
Fine artist
Functional Nutritionist and Hormone specialist
Reiki Master
Allowing my new systems to really work
Lately I haven’t felt the urge to overhaul my systems, make big shifts or updates, and my mind isn’t bubbling with new ideas that I’m excited to implement… which made me feel like something was wrong. But I recently recognized that it’s because everything I shifted earlier this year has really been working! Sure there are small updates and tweaks to be made, but the work I put into my rebranding, website design, CMS swap and project scheduling has actually made my day to day work life easier. And that ease has allowed my brain to relax a little bit. I didn’t expect myself to feel a bit uncomfortable in this situation, but sometimes we need to force ourselves to sit back and enjoy the results of our hard work.
My client’s goals are my goals
This busy time and the consistent referrals have also uncovered the key for me (and probably any service provider) - that genuinely caring about helping those you’re working with will always put you ahead. When I sit at my desk every day, I’m focused on the problems I’m going to solve and the ways I’m going to make my clients’ lives easier (and prettier). I’m not worried about an Instagram caption, catchy newsletter subject line, or booking myself out as far as I possibly can. I’m focused on client results, and I believe they feel that effort, appreciate it and are happy to send other people my way for that reason.
