Allowing your intuition to guide your digital marketing

As a digital design studio catering to female-founded businesses, we understand the value of authenticity in the busy online landscape. Trends come and go and competition is fierce, but if you’re feeling the pull to do what everyone else is doing, you should keep reading! Staying true to your brand's essence and leaning into your unique approach has never been more critical. In this blog, we'll explore the power of your intuition and authenticity in the digital world.

Your unique story and path is your hook

At the heart of every successful brand lies a compelling story. Your journey as a female founder is an invaluable asset that can resonate with your audience on a personal level. Embrace your unique story and experiences, and infuse them into your brand's narrative. By doing so, you'll create a deeper emotional connection with your customers, fostering loyalty and trust. Think about the people or brands you really enjoy following, do they pretend that their journey has been perfect and cookie-cutter? Or do they share the ups and downs and unconventional steps they took to get to their unique goals?

Your brand visuals can (and should) think beyond trends

Your brand's visual identity should reflect its core values and personality. We incorporate personal elements and founder's insights into the design process by asking strategic questions and collaborating with you from the beginning. Choosing colours, fonts, and visual elements that evoke authenticity instead of following trends will communicate your brand's story more effectively. Trends are great for informing what the general public may view as fresh, current and up-to-date, but we push beyond those trends and take them in a unique direction that helps you stand out. Longevity is important, so if you see people launching businesses with branding that all looks exactly the same but your gut is telling you to go your own direction, follow that! There are many ways to create beautiful branding that prioritizes authenticity and timelessness instead of trendiness.

Your content and strategy shouldn’t exactly emulate anyone else’s

In a digital world filled with noise, genuine content stands out. Focus on creating content that is relatable, meaningful, and aligns with your brand's identity. Resist the temptation to follow fleeting trends that don't resonate with your audience or try strategies or social schedules that just exhaust you and lead you to burnout. By staying authentic in your content creation, you'll attract and retain a loyal community of followers. In our experience, we find that imperfect imagery and honest messages perform much better on social than a perfectly curated feed that is predictably posted in the same way every week. Give yourself permission to create content that you enjoy creating that will be helpful to YOUR audience in a way that is manageable for YOU, and see how your audience responds!

Don’t fluff up your website and lose sight of its true purpose and power

Sure, there are tons of cool websites out there with unique animations and user experiences, but your mind would be blown at how much those can cost (tens of thousands of dollars, in most cases). Don’t let the aspiration of having a huge gallery of immaculate photos and videos, or the most exquisite copy, or mind-blowing functionality become the reason you haven’t created a website yet. Those things can absolutely remain on the vision board, but think about what your brand really needs right NOW so that you can move forward, launch and continue to build down the road. The true purpose of a website is to portray your brand in an authentic and professional way, to provide your audience with answers to their questions, and to tell users what their next step should be in working with you. If your gut is telling you that right now you need something simple, professionally designed, with strategic functionality, we can do that in ONE DAY my friend. (Shameless plug here).

When your peers or competitors make you question your approach, remember YOUR goals

The overall message I want to convey is that your goals are what matter to your business, and since your vision will be unique, your intuition is what you can lean on when it’s not crystal clear what the next step is. Give yourself permission to do things your own way, to look for the simple solution that you feel is right, test it out and be ready to pivot based on what you learn. If you strive to earn a full time income while working half the hours so that you can be at home with your family, you can create that reality. If you want to build a team that can take on multiple big-name clients and serve top-of-the-line experience and results, you can create that too. Keep learning from others, there is so much insight online, but let the ideas or strategies that won’t get you closer to your desired reality fall away. Your entrepreneurial intuition is your GIFT.
